Why Drumming in 21 Days?

What You Will Learn

  • Photo of Ralph behind the drums teaching a masterclass.

For anyone starting out, learning how to play drums and rudiments is important for building a strong foundation. Learning essential stick patterns and techniques forms the basis of more complex rhythms. These beginning skills, such as single-stroke rolls, double-stroke rolls, and paradiddles, not only enhance your technical ability but also lay the groundwork for improved coordination, speed, and control.

  • The most important part of learning anything is being able to focus. Allowing yourself the ability to see yourself in a positive light is at the top of the list of what matters. Always be strong and always be honest with yourself about who you are, where you are and how you are growing will only better the person you are on your drums and in life. All of it matters. You matter.

  • Doing what you love is one of the best things in life. When you work hard, put in the time, and practice at anything with all of your heart and soul, you will grow. Get out of your way and stay out of your way. You will grow. Every day is a gift where you’re given a new lease on a new day. Give it your best. You will grow.

BALLYMOUNT, IRELAND

Walking into Abbey Road Studios for the first time to record on the soundtrack of Rocketman and Cats, with the legend Nile Rodgers and Giles Martin producing. These are the same studios and hallways that so many famous groups, like The Beatles, walked through and recorded in. It was truly a dream come true.

LONDON, ENGLAND

“Your ideas on the nature of success and the different routes one may take in setting and achieving one’s goals certainly made a deep impact and will not be forgotten. It was, I am sure all students would agree, the most memorable and meaningful class of the semester.”

TOKYO, JAPAN

BRIGHTON, LONDON, BRISTOL, MANCHESTER, BIRMINGHAM, ESSEX, DUBLIN, BERLIN

“Ralph has a clear and highly relevant message and he is inspirational, easy to identify with, passionate about the art of drumming and passionate about learning and inspiring others to learn.”

TOKYO, JAPAN

“Since he played with many great musicians and is still called by top artists, he understands what new musicians need to do to be their best. His focus is not just drum technique but how to use and control the technique to contribute to building the music and groove. Japanese musicians tend to focus on technique, but sometimes, it distracts from the music. He reminds them that the nature of playing the music is being humble to the music.”

“Ralph’s Masterclass was exceptionally engaging for all our students from each of our music programs (Performance, Production, and Management). His unique insight, informed by a highly successful career, left a lasting impression on all who attended, students and staff alike.”

DUBLIN, IRELAND

BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND

“When you have the exceptional quality of making people feel special, it’s a gift that you must give away to everyone. Every student who came to Ralph’s One-to-One drum lessons said the same thing. “He made me feel like I can do anything. “ Ralph is a true inspiration.”
